Steve Wilson
Where do I begin? Ok, I’ll start at 12 years old. I have to admit, I was an MTV child, so that set the course for me in music. Very into pop, whatever that was. I loved cheap trick, KISS, and everything like it. My first guitar was a sears and roebuck my dad bought me and I plugged it straight into his HI-FI. I had no idea what I was doing but I had already started a band. My drummer then (JJ JOHNSON-one of John Mayer’s drummers) played on drums we pulled from garbage cans, garages, and yard sales. We we’re on our way. I loved bass but played guitar, so I played both. In high school, we formed The Union Underground. JJ was gone but we all traded bands regularly. The Union Underground was a very advanced band. Our parents we’re dropping us off for 21 and over club gigs. We eventually went on to open for bands like Alice Cooper, The Scorpions, Great White and many other big bands. Eventually the band signed to SONY/Portrait records. The summer I graduated high school, I had an offer to go on tour with an artist named Lance Keltner. He had a debut album out on ATCO/EastWest and it was an offer I could not refuse. I did not quit my band, just went and earned my wings. This is when I learned about what really happens in the real world. All the autograph signing, radio visits, hotel parties, free gear and party favors, etc , all come to a crashing halt when the label is done with you. So I came back to TX with my tail between my legs. After a few more years of floating around from band to band, town to town, I decided to relocate to another city and start over. Dallas was the place. A picked up with an already established band called NEO. We did a couple of cd’s, did some touring and local gigging. We we’re in Atlanta doing some pre-production work for a new CD when several members decided that music was not for them anymore. This was the downward spiral for the band. We we’re very close, but no cigar. This is when I decided my “gun for hire” days we’re over. I could sing, write, and front a band and it was time. Enter my new band Am.Zeros. We are a TRIO out of Dallas. Two lead singers and a huge sound. My guitarist is an old friend that moved over form LA. For more on this band, visit our website at www.amzeros.com.
