Music is a big part of my life! I come from a music family. We all sing and play musical instruments. I've played bass for about twenty seven years now in New Mexico, and also play guitar and sing in my family's New Mexican folk-music group, Los Reyes de Albuquerque. We have recorded a number of LPs and CDs and have performed at the Smithsonian Institution's Folk Life Festival a number of times. In June, 2004, we had the honor of performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. My father Roberto and my brother Lorenzo also received the National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship Award in 2003 for preserving and promoting New Mexican Hispanic folk music. I also love playing rock and heavy pop music! I have played in various bands, original and cover, through the years in Albuquerque and in Los Angeles, where I played 8-string bass for a band called the Tinted Souls. My favorite bass players are Tom Petersson, John Paul Jones, John Entwistle, and Paul McCartney, of course! Presently, I am playing bass for a Christian Rock recording project. I also love writing songs. My first bass was a 4 string, but when I heard Cheap Trick, I had to have a 12 string bass! But I couldn't afford one. Twenty some years later, thanks to Waterstone guitars, I now own a quality, awesome sounding 12 string bass. In fact, I love my yellow TP-2 so much, I bought a cherry TP-2 to match. Why have one when you can have two? I love playing these instruments, the look, sound, and feel of the basses are first rate. I can't wait to get a Waterstone 4 string bass!
