Matt Fig

Matt Fig

Hailing from the southern suburbs of Detroit, Fig has gained substantial critical acclaim.  Fig has recently been playing showcases and opening slots for national acts.  He has signed a deal with InterMusic Library in Los Angeles.  Fig’s songs have been played all over the world via standard FM/AM broadcast, XM, Sirius, and internet radio.  Matt Fig (just goes by Fig) does his own recordings while playing all instruments and singing all vocals.  He is a multifaceted writer, player, engineer, performer, you name it.  He has played numerous shows with major label bands all the way from Faster Pussycat to Adema to Donnie Vie.  To put things into better perspective, let’s just look at the “now.”  Fig continues to play shows with his “solo” band called Fig as well as a successful side project called Melt.  Fig regularly plays the Detroit area’s best clubs and theatres as well as shows throughout the Midwest.  This December (2005) alone will see Fig songs on three international releases.  He has songs placed on 34 West Records’ “Labor of Love” CD, songs placed on the FULA label released as a promotional vehicle but will also be for sale, and a song on the Butch Walker Tribute CD released by CD Smash Records.

****Fig songs have been all the way to number 1 at www.irgradio.com, www.broadjam.com, www.ratesummusic.com, www.gigworthy.com, and www.mp3unsigned.com just to name a few.  Fig songs have charted in the Top 10 (aside Kid Rock and Godsmack) at www.electriceyeradio.com, www.makeastar.com, and IRG Radio (going all the way to Number 1- Audio available at www.mattfig.com)

From the outside in, Fig is the definition of a hard working musician but you’d never guess it by talking to him.  He enjoys every second of it and takes nothing for granted- He laughs more than most and more often than not it’s him laughing at himself.  He is extremely accessible to fans.  He has played shows with many of his heroes and is still star-struck to meet them.  On top of great writing and production, Fig is an interesting and fun performer that can suck in even the harshest of critics.
